At Your Child’s Place, activities are structured to include every child by personalizing each experience to meet individual needs and abilities.
One of the highlights of YCP is the phenomenal outdoor play space. Children have access to traditional playground equipment to climb on and slide down, along with themed playhouses including a fire station, store, police station, and library. These spaces are thoughtfully designed to support children of all abilities, including children who use wheelchairs.
The outdoor play area also features soft rubber flooring surrounding the equipment. Different colors are used throughout the flooring to help children with visual impairments recognize changes in space and surface. Wide sidewalks allow children using wheelchairs to comfortably navigate outdoor playtime alongside their peers.
The entire outdoor area is surrounded by fencing, trees, and green space, creating a safe and welcoming environment where children can play, explore, and interact together. One of the children’s all-time favorite outdoor activities is blowing bubbles. Some children are bubble blowers, others are bubble poppers, and another group are bubble watchers. Every child enjoys the same activity in their own unique way and from their own vantage point.
Arts and crafts activities are also tailored to each individual child. Some children complete projects independently with verbal directions and a short demonstration, while others complete their masterpieces with one-on-one assistance from an RN or childcare aide. Every child has beautiful artwork to proudly share with family and loved ones to take home.
Children focus on what their peers can do, rather than what they cannot do. Inclusion, encouragement, and individualized support are part of everyday life.
We are proud of our children for the strength and resilience they show every day!
